Traditional: the tea and its presentation
Six 50g tins give this traditional Lapsang Souchong set a total net weight of 300g. The red presentation box and matching bag make a substantial gift, while the separate tins let you open the tea in stages. This is the larger six-tin option; the 180g set uses smaller 30g tins.

Leaf and cup
The traditional style brings together pine-smoke fragrance and a longan-like sweetness. Dark twisted leaves open into brown infused leaves; the photographed liquor is a bright amber-gold.

Brewing notes
Start with 5g of leaf and 120–150mL of water close to 100°C (212°F). Warm the vessel first. Keep the first few infusions short, then add around 3–5 seconds as the leaves open. Adjust the leaf-to-water ratio to taste; for a larger mug or pot, use less leaf and separate it from the liquor when the tea is ready.
