Where to Buy West Lake Longjing Tea Online: An Overseas Guide
To buy West Lake Longjing tea online from outside China, look for a seller who can explain the actual batch as clearly as the delivery. A familiar brand or an attractive green-tea photograph is only the start. You need a specific origin, a stated harvest year and a practical way to check what arrives.
For US and global buyers, three routes are worth comparing: an international tea specialist, a producer or its documented reseller, and a local tea shop. Each can work; the useful question is how much information the seller provides about your particular tea.

1. International tea specialists
These shops often make it easier to order small quantities, read English batch descriptions and compare shipping options. Check that the listing explicitly says West Lake or Xihu. ‘Dragonwell’ or ‘Longjing’ alone is broader.
As examples checked on October 23, 2026, Teasenz’s first-flush Longjing page identifies a 2026 spring batch and a Meijiawu origin. Its shipping page describes dispatch from China and a separate EU store shipping from the Netherlands. Check the destination-specific method and final quote before ordering.
iTeaworld’s Longjing Village listing gives a named West Lake origin and describes a traceability label. The site also advertises a US-stock service; that banner does not establish that every tea is held in the US. Confirm the warehouse for the exact item.
These are examples of pages to examine, not a ranking or independent certification of their batches. Seller descriptions and current stock can change. Apply the same checks to any other retailer.
2. A producer or documented reseller
A direct relationship can give you more detail about gardens, picking and processing. Start with the West Lake Longjing Tea Management Association when checking producer authorization and the official verification service. Then establish whether the shop is that producer or a reseller.
A shop on a large Chinese marketplace is not automatically an official shop. Match the business identity and ask how its retail packs correspond to the original batch. If you use a purchasing agent, make sure it will preserve labels, invoices and the original sealed packaging.
Do not assume a producer ships internationally because it sells domestically. Ask about your country, the carrier, packing and who handles a delivery problem before paying.
3. A local tea shop or importer
A local seller may offer faster delivery, smaller samples and an easier conversation about returns. It may also hold tea longer than a direct shipment. Ask when the tea was harvested, when the stock arrived and how it has been stored.
Repacking is not automatically a problem, but it creates another traceability step. Ask how your small pouch connects to the producer’s original labelled batch. A generic photograph of a tea garden cannot fill that gap.
Freshness means more than ‘new tea’
By October, a tea labelled spring 2026 has already spent months in storage. That is not a defect in itself. Good sealing, protection from heat and light, and a clear storage history matter more than a permanent ‘fresh arrival’ banner.
Ask for the actual harvest year rather than the website’s update date. For small orders, choose an amount you can finish while enjoying its aroma. A huge discount on a large bag is less useful if most of it will sit open.
Before checkout: five details to confirm
- Identity: West Lake origin, producer, harvest year and net weight.
- Evidence: the actual package label and the way you can verify it after delivery.
- Storage: sealed pack, storage conditions and any repacking date the seller can provide.
- Delivery: item-specific dispatch country, estimated transit and the final shipping charge.
- Problem handling: how to report a damaged, incorrect or poorly described order, and the return conditions.
Read the final destination-specific tax information rather than assuming every country has the same arrangements. A shipping estimate is not a guaranteed arrival date, especially for a gift.
Start small when trying a new seller
A modest first order lets you compare the delivered tea, packaging and records with the product page. Keep the receipt and listing details. Once the tea and service meet your expectations, a larger order is easier to judge.
