Description
Gong Pai Mingqian A West Lake Longjing Tea, 50 g Tin is a Chinese loose leaf green tea from Hangzhou, Zhejiang. This selection is picked before Qingming and pan-fired into the flat leaf shape associated with Longjing, also known as Dragonwell.

The 50 g tin
This 50 g format uses a cylindrical green tin with a gold-colored lid and dragon decoration. The smaller tin is easy to keep on a tea shelf and offers a convenient quantity for getting to know the tea.

The net weight is 50 g of tea, approximately 1.76 oz. Teaware, decorative objects and food used to style the photographs are for display.
Leaves, aroma and the brewed cup
The product profile describes a fuller aroma and a mellow, gently sweet taste. Dry-leaf and brewing photographs let you compare the flat leaves with the pale liquor and opened leaf shape. Your brew will also depend on the amount of tea, water temperature and steeping time.

A is the grade stated for this product; it is separate from the Mingqian picking period. To understand the season terms, read our Mingqian and Yuqian Longjing guide.

Brewing and storage
Start with 2.5–3 g of tea and 150–200 mL of water at about 80–85°C (176–185°F). Taste after 1–2 minutes, then adjust the strength to your preference. A clear glass lets you watch the leaves open; porcelain is a practical choice if you prefer to pour the tea off the leaves.
Keep the tea sealed, cool and dry, away from light, moisture and strong odors. If refrigerating, let the unopened package return to room temperature before opening. The stated shelf life is 540 days from production; check the package for its dates.
